The Wisconsin Hawthorn Project, in partnership with Northwest Journey, Northwest Counseling and Guidance Clinic, Polk County Community Services Division, and the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families, is hosting a special Trauma-Informed Care training, focusing on the unique needs and experiences of LGBQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Queer, etc.) and TGNC (Transgender and Gender Non-Conforming) community members and clients.
Objective: Train mental health professionals and allied professions on the unique characteristics of trauma and trauma symptoms in LGBQ and TGNC populations. The content will include Trauma 101 and Resilience in the context of Gender Diversity and Sexuality. The presenters will address rejection, isolation, and abuse in family systems, as well as issues for navigating intersectional adversity, ethics, advocacy, and allyship.
