*Note on the chosen quote: John Muir and others who were early “pioneers” in the establishment of wilderness areas and national parks both understood and spread the value of engaging in wilderness and nature-based settings. Unfortunately, he and others caused significant harm to native communities. We recognize Muir’s work and influence, while also inviting clients to interrogate his relationship with native populations.
Nature-based interventions
In the office: Using your imagination, plants, or small nature objects, explore metaphors and patterns that are taking place in your life.
Near the office: In parks or on trails, experience the impact that fresh air, plants, and sunlight have on your body as we work through your therapeutic goals.
Ecopsychology
In the office: Using your imagination, plants, or small nature objects, connect with the Earth and explore your emotions regarding sustainable living and ecological impacts of modern life.
Near the office: In parks or on trails, develop a deeper relationship with the Earth and explore how taking care of the Earth takes care of you and your loved ones.
Wilderness
Solo, couples, family, and group trips can be coordinated as part of the treatment plan. Wilderness trips can take place in the desert, in the mountains, or on a river and may involve one or more nights outdoors. Scheduled on request or as part of a program.
Therapy intensives
Whether you are a family who has a kid returning from an intensive Wilderness Therapy Program, or a family who is struggling, or a couple navigating difficult decisions, or an individual who needs an intentional and facilitated retreat, or a group of friends who are committing to grow and deepen together, join us in the Driftless Region for a customized therapeutic intensive. Therapy intensives include:
onsite rustic lodging (camping with comfortable touches in a large canvas tent that can sleep up to 5)
facilitated programming (equine, nature-based, body-based work that addresses individual needs as well as dyadic and collective needs)
custom meals (supporting local farm-to-table options as much as possible)
down time (we all need time to rest and reflect)
Therapeutic intensives can be 3-day or 5-day events.
