Who: Families with children who are dually diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and are deaf/hard of hearing.
What: Come meet other parents, professional supports, and the animals on the ranch! We will enjoy a picnic lunch and water while playing games, feeding alpacas, and getting a demo of equine therapy. You will also learn a little more about why/how equine therapy is becoming popular for supporting children with ASD. Make sure to RSVP by 4:00pm on September 21st to reserve your spot!
When: Saturday, September 29th, 2018
9:30am-1:00pm
Where: Happy Dog Ranch
7811 W. Titan Rd.
Littleton, CO 80125
Why: Equine therapy (along with other animal-assisted and nature-based therapies) is becoming prominent in the field of Autism. However, deaf and hard of hearing children who have an Autism Spectrum Disorder diagnosis may not qualify for the current research studies and programs due to linguistic accessibility. Natural Wisdom Counseling, Happy Dog Ranch, Colorado Hands & Voices, and are teaming together to make an accessible, introductory day at the ranch for families with children who are BOTH deaf/hard of hearing and have an Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Volunteers and additional sponsors are welcome! Please direct message Natural Wisdom Counseling for more information on how to become involved.
